Just For Today Community Guidelines

Effective July 28, 2026 · Version 1.0.1

The Just For Today community exists so nobody has to rebuild alone. People here are carrying hard days, early days, proud days. These guidelines keep it a place worth showing up to. They're part of our Terms of Service, and by participating in channels, events, direct messages, or stories, you're agreeing to them.

The spirit of this place

  • Celebrate loudly, console gently. Cheer every milestone like it's your own. When someone's struggling, lead with kindness.
  • Progress, not perfection. A slip is part of many stories. Nobody here gets shamed for a hard day — ever. "You failed" is not language we use, and it's not language we'll leave standing.
  • Every path is welcome. Twelve-step, medication-assisted, faith-based, secular, self-directed — all of it. Don't tell anyone their way of recovering is wrong.
  • Anonymity is sacred. Many people here use handles for a reason. Never reveal another member's identity, photos, location, or story outside the community — not even with good intentions.

Hard lines

Some things get an account removed. No warnings owed, no second reads:

  • Zero tolerance for solicitation or dealing. Offering, selling, sourcing, or asking for drugs or alcohol — or glamorizing use to a community of people in recovery — is the fastest way out the door. We may remove the content, terminate the account, and, where the law is involved, cooperate with valid legal process. Recovery spaces get targeted by dealers; ours will be a hostile place for them.
  • No medical advice between members. Share your experience — "here's what my doctor and I did" is welcome. But nobody here may tell another member what medication to take or stop, how to detox, or how to manage withdrawal. That's between a person and a medical professional, full stop. Stopping some substances suddenly can be dangerous; when in doubt, the answer is "talk to a doctor," and it's the only advice worth giving.
  • No harassment, hate, or cruelty. No slurs, threats, bullying, sexual harassment, or piling on. No shaming anyone's slip, dose, diagnosis, or past.
  • No predatory behavior. No scams, MLM recruiting, fundraising pitches, romance-scamming, or targeting vulnerable members. New accounts can't send direct messages for their first 7 days for exactly this reason.
  • No graphic content. No images of substances or paraphernalia, no "war story" detail that reads like a how-to, no sexual or violent material.

About crisis moments

This community is fellow travelers, not professionals, and Just For Today is not a crisis service — if you or someone you see here is in danger, call 911, or call/text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). SAMHSA's helpline is 1-800-662-4357. Please don't rely on a post being seen in time; nobody is monitoring the community around the clock, and an urgent message here may not reach anyone who can help.

Report and block — your tools

  • Block any member instantly. They can't message you or see your community activity. You never need a reason, and they aren't notified.
  • Report any message, post, story, profile, or event from the "..." menu on the content itself. Reports go to a queue for human review, are confidential, and reporting in good faith will never be held against you — even if we decide no action is needed.

How moderation works here

Honesty matters more than comfort, so plainly: we do not monitor the community, and we don't promise to review any particular content, act on any report, or respond within any particular time. What we do is reserve the right to act. We may remove or restrict content, hide it pending review, limit features (like DMs or posting), or suspend or terminate accounts when we believe these guidelines or our Terms have been violated — with or without notice, at our discretion. Automated filters may flag suspicious patterns (like solicitation keywords) for human review, but a filter is a tripwire, not a guardian.

If we act on your content or account and you think we got it wrong, reply to the notice or email us — we're humans, and we do reconsider.

When you leave

Delete your account and the content you authored in the community is deleted or de-identified, as described in our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.

Changes

If these guidelines change materially, we'll give you notice in the app before the new version applies, and every version stays archived.

Thank you for helping make this a place where someone's worst day can be met with somebody's kindness.
